Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS)

Low Tire Pressure is Dangerous, Costly, and Against the Law!

The Department of Transportation estimates that 37% of all tires on the American roadways are under inflated

  • Under inflated tires waste over 5.4 million gallons of fuel every day (over 2 billion gallons each year) in the U.S. alone.
  • Low tire pressure is the #1 cause of tire failure, and contributes to tire disintegration, heat buildup, ply separation, and sidewall/casing breakdowns.
  • The DOT estimates that properly inflated tires could eliminate 250 lbs. of greenhouse gas emissions per vehicle per year, or more than 57.5 billion pounds of carbon monoxide pollutants each year.
  • Under inflated tires lead to tread separation and tire failure, resulting in 40,000 accidents, 33,000 injures, and over 650 deaths.
  • A difference of 10 lbs. in air pressure between a set of duals literally drags the lower pressured tire 13 feet per mile
  • Under inflated tires decrease a vehicle's average MPG by as much as 3.3%

DOT Mandates Tire Pressure Monitoring...Are You In Compliance?

Vehicles hauling hazardous material are required to monitor tire pressures in one of the following ways:

  • Tire pressure must be measured and recorded at a minimum on a daily basis and additionally each time the vehicle begins a trip on a public roadway. Tire pressure must be adjusted if is more than 25% below the recommended inflation pressure. The results must be recorded in the vehicle inspection report as required in 49 CFR 396.11. or
  • Tire pressure is physically measured and recorded at least once in each consecutive seven day period and electronic pressure monitoring systems are installed and functional on all
    wheels
. The results must be recorded in the driver vehicle inspection report as required in 49 CFR 396.11. For details, check page 7 of the DOT-SP 12677 letter.

The Solution:

The PressurePro Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS) gives you the information you need to maintain properly inflated tires which results in significant Savings, Safety, and Government Compliance!

How the TPMS Works

PressurePro is a wireless electronic tire pressure monitoring system designed to monitor and display tire pressures. PressurePro is capable of displaying current tire pressures on demand, whether your vehicle is moving or stationary. PressurePro is a monitoring system and will not prevent tries from losing pressure or failing. However, low pressure is the leading cause of premature tire failure and PressurePro can provide early notice of potential problems and assist in maintaining proper pressurization in vehicle tires. PressurePro can be used on most pneumatic tires.
How the System Works
Sensors: Screw onto the valve stem of your vehicle’s tires, replacing your dust cap, and transmit pressure and temperature readings through the bridge to the MDC via a coded RF signal.
Monitor: Displays each tire’s pressure and sends audible and visual alerts to pressure drops and raises. The Monitor alerts at 3 levels. The first alert occurs when pressures drop by more than 12.5%. A second, more urgent alert, at a 25% drop and a third, variable high pressure alert at your determined threshold. (If you have the Mobltec MDC system, the MDC replaces the monitor.)

Features and Benefits

With the TPMS, you can:
Monitor the Air Pressure in Each Tire The TPMS alerts you when the air pressure in a tire falls above or below the preset limit.

  • Increased Fuel Efficiency
  • Extended Tread Live
  • Reduced Carbon Emissions
  • Decreased Maintenance Cost
  • Reduced Roadside Downtime
  • Added Safety
  • Enhanced Vehicle Handling
  • Greater Stability and Braking
  • Less Damage to Casings
  • Lower Insurance Costs due to Lower Accident Rate
Monitor the Temperature of Each Tire The TPMS alerts you when the temperature of a tire exceeds the preset limit.
Monitor Tire Pressure and Temperature Remotely

Tire pressure alerts can also be transmitted in real time to the dispatch center and/or the Maintenance Department.

The Dispatch Center can locate and track vehicles on a map using the Mobltec AVL Tracker.

The Mobltec MDC Interface

Mobltec is now an authorized dealer of the PressurePro Tire Pressure Monitoring System. If you are already a Mobltec customer, you can use the existing Mobltec MDC to monitor your tire pressure.

The Receiver Bridge recognizes and reads  pressures from the truck ’s sensors automatically and passes them on to the Mobltec MDC.

  Sensors and Bridge

The Mobltec MDC replaces the Pressure Pro Monitor and displays the status of the sensors to the drivers as well as alerts due to falling pressure.  Tire pressure alerts can also be transmitted in real time to the dispatch center and/or the Maintenance Department.

MDC

The Mobltec MDC also acts as a “Wizard” to guide the installers through the set up process.
